One application for the neurobiology of neurocognitive and neurodegenerative disorders is to help families apply translational research findings to the design of safe spaces. Imagine you are making a home visit to a client with Alzheimer's Disease. What would you tell the family to help them understand the reasons for changes in furnishings and décor? As you mouse over or tab through the interactive points on the living room, think about other considerations that should be considered when creating a safe living space for a person with AD. Step 2: Create A Safe Space for a Client with Alzheimer's Disease

Now, you try it! Design a room for Mr. Jerry Davis, a 75-year-old Vietnam Veteran recently diagnosed with early-stage AD. To do this, you will need to go to RoomSketcher.com at RoomSketcher. Download the free app and sign in using an email address. Click on the orange button at the top of the right side column to download the app on your computer. After you open the app on your computer, open a new project by clicking "new" under the Project column. Play with the app to get familiar with it. Choose the room size and decorate it (walls, floors, windows, doors, furniture). Arrange the camera view by clicking on the camera icon--you can change the angle, move, or resize it. Take a snapshot. You do not need to buy anything to create a room and save it! To save your project. Click on "view project media." Click on the details tab. Here, you may choose to print a snapshot of your project to a PDF or save it to disk as a .jpg file. You may choose to take a few snapshots of different angles. Post at least one snapshot of your room to the Discussion board for this week.

Alternatively, you can choose to make a freehand drawing of a room with furniture and take a picture with your phone camera.
