Here is a brief synopsis for how participants can work through the Canvas Orientation Course: |
- Course content is arranged in Modules and ordered to help you build a course as efficiently and effectively as possible.
- Modules can be completed in any order, and training the quizzes at the end of each Module can help gauge retention of the material.
- Non-Academic Instructors can request a sandbox course (blank course) by submitting a ServiceNow ticket or by contacting Business Technology Services. Your sandbox course and can be used to (1) try out what you are learning in this orientation and (2) as a place to build a fully developed course.
- Information is provided about all Canvas features, but the instructor can pick what features to implement in their course.
- Participants will have the knowledge and tools to build their sandbox by Module 8.
Your Canvas Sandbox
|
Submit a ServiceNow ticket or contact Business Technology Services at 817-272-2581 to request a Canvas sandbox course. This is where you can try out everything you learn in this orientation training. You can also use your sandbox to build a fully developed course. |
What is a sandbox course?
A sandbox course is an empty Canvas course that can serve as your space to experiment with Canvas. It is also where you can build a fully developed course. You are the instructor of this course and can set it up and design it the way you want it. This includes copying course content from another Canvas course, importing materials from Canvas Commons, or starting a course from scratch.
Where can you find your sandbox course?
Once created, this course can be found by clicking on Courses on the left side of the page.
What is the purpose of the sandbox course?
The purpose of using a sandbox course is that you can build a complete course in Canvas that you can then copy into a real course to use with students.
Will I have access to my sandbox course in the future?
You will always have access to your sandbox course. This means it is a great place to try out new and advanced features without affecting your live course(s).
